How our search results are ranked

1. General information on ranking parameters

The order in which Goods and Vendors are displayed in search results and other listings on the Site (“Ranking”) is determined by an automated ranking system which evaluates multiple parameters. The main parameters used to determine the Ranking are, in particular: (a) the textual and categorical relevance of a listing to the Customer’s search query (including title, description, category and applied filters); (b) objective quality signals of the listing and Vendor performance (such as image quality, historic conversion rates, cancellation and return rates, on-time dispatch and delivery rates, and responsiveness to Customer enquiries); (c) the freshness and availability of the Goods (including stock status and recency of listing or update); (d) the Customer’s previous behaviour on the Site; and (e) the impact of any paid promotion or enhanced visibility products purchased by Vendors in accordance with separate commercial agreements, where applicable.

2. Relative importance of ranking parameters

The parameters described in clause 1 are combined in an algorithmic model. The relevance of the listing to the Customer’s search query and applied filters, together with objective quality and performance signals and the Customer’s previous browsing history, are generally the most important factors for the Ranking. Factors relating to the freshness and availability of the Goods and any paid promotion or enhanced visibility products may also influence the Ranking. The exact technical weighting, scoring methods and implementation details of the Ranking algorithm are confidential and may be adapted from time to time to improve the relevance and quality of results.

3. Paid promotion and disclosure

Vendors may from time to time purchase paid promotion or enhanced visibility products which can improve the prominence of their listings (for example, through highlighted placement or increased visibility within certain result sets). Such paid promotion will not override the requirement that promoted listings meet minimum relevance and quality thresholds. Where a listing benefits from paid promotion or enhanced visibility, this will be indicated to Customers in a clear and transparent manner on the Site, in accordance with applicable consumer protection and unfair commercial practices laws.

4. No guarantee of individual results

While we seek to provide Customers with the most relevant and useful results, we do not guarantee any particular position in the Ranking for any Vendor or listing. Vendors acknowledge that the Ranking may vary over time for the same query as we update and improve our systems or as the underlying parameters (such as performance metrics and availability) change.

Outdoor Rugs

Buy and sell vintage outdoor rugs. More than 45 products in stock from the UK and Europe's top sellers.

We are always told to look up and out, but why do we undermine what is right below our feet? Outdoor rugs are suited to drier climates where wet conditions and humidity can be avoided. This promotes the outdoor rug as durable and low maintenance. In hotter climates, this also prevents the risk of burned feet!

Outdoor rugs for your home

Outdoor rugs are especially useful because they can handle wear and tear from children and pets, in addition to having the flexibility to be used indoors.
If your garden is dirt, grass and tarmac, then an outdoor rug is a great asset to exteriorising the interior. The home is in the garden also, and a durable, hardwearing outdoor rug will be great to add some aesthetic and provide some comfort for your family and friends for social times.
Let’s take a look at the origins of outdoor rugs and the most popular, common and useful styles.

Origins of outdoor rugs

Outdoors rugs have existed as early as the 3rd or 2nd millennium BC in Western Asia. They were often crafted in India and Persia and then traded elsewhere. The introduction of looms in the 18th century meant that handmade rugs shifted from handwoven to industrial and mass-production quantities.

Styles and common types of outdoor rugs

The profound and rich history of outdoor rugs means that there are lots of varieties and styles. Vinterior’s inventory has a particular emphasis on natural, artisanal handmade rugs to add that special character to your garden.

The Braided Rug

A staple in early, colonial American culture, these rugs were often recycled with pieces of clothing and excess materials to ensure warmth and protection to guests. They are constructed often in a banded braid, cloth braid, flat braid or yarn braid. The aesthetic is thicker and solid coloured.

Hand Hooked Rugs

In its prime in the 21st century, fine hooking and primitive hooking of rugs create different effects. This is where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen, or rug warp. This is done using a crochet hook.

Flat Weave Rugs

This is constructed without including any knots at all. Instead, the parallel running fibers that comprise the length of the rug (warp) and those that run along the width (weft) make up the whole surface of the rug.
